We need your help to defeat S.B 2026!  This bad groundwater permitting bill by Sen. Charles Perry (R-Lubbock) passed out of committee last week and is heading to the full Senate. S.B. 2026 would repeal the provision in current law that allows groundwater districts to issue permits based on a utility’s service area. The effect of this bill would be that water utilities in some GCDs will have to purchase additional land or water rights to obtain the water their customers need, resulting in higher rates for customers. Click here to see which state senator represents you and call their office by the end of this week!
